
The group stage of the Club World Cup has come to an end, with Manchester City thrashing Juventus 5–2. The Italian side will now face Real Madrid in the Round of 16.
The final group stage matches of the ongoing Club World Cup, being held in the United States, were played on the night of Thursday, June 26, and the early hours of Friday, June 27, 2025.
The most anticipated match was between Manchester City of England and Juventus of Italy, as it would determine the top team in Group H.
By the 9th minute, Jérémy Doku had already scored the first goal for Man City. However, due to a mistake by Man City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes, Teun Koopmeiners equalized for Juventus in the 11th minute.
Juventus then scored an own goal by Pierre Kalulu in the 26th minute, giving Manchester City the lead at halftime.
The other goals for Manchester City, who went undefeated in the group stage, came from Phil Foden in the 69th minute and Savinho in the 75th. Juventus’s consolation goal was scored by Dušan Vlahović in the 84th minute.
Both teams secured qualification to the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Al Ain from the UAE defeated Wydad AC of Morocco 2–1, but it wasn’t enough to advance.
Man City have the chance of winning the trophy.
Man City and Juventus awaited opponents from Group G, which featured Real Madrid vs. Salzburg and Al Hilal vs. Pachuca.
Real Madrid of Spain topped the group after defeating Salzburg of Austria 3–0 with goals from Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Gonzalo García.
The other team that advanced from the group was Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, who beat Pachuca of Mexico 2–0 with goals from Al Dawsari and Marcos Leonardo.
Vini helped real Madrid to dominate and win match.
In the Round of 16, Al Hilal will play Manchester City on July 1, while Real Madrid will face Juventus on the same day.
