Cycling: Captain of the national team who was preparing for the World Championship allegedly escapes to France

It is suspected that the Captain of Rwanda’s National Cycling Team, Munyaneza Didier, has escaped while in France, where he and his teammates had been training in preparation for the UCI Road World Championships.

The national team, composed of senior and junior riders, had been in France for two weeks, participating in several races including Critérium de Vire, Tredias Open, Moncontour Bretagne, Trebedan Open, La Route Vendéenne, GP Chevreville, Critérium Avranches, and Torigni & Bricquebec.

The riders were under the supervision of coach David Louvet, and the team included: Mugisha Moïse,Munyaneza Didier,Manizabayo Jean de Die,Ufitimana Shadrack,Nshutiraguma Kevin,Aimé Ruhumuriza,Mike Uwiduhaye,Masengesho Vainqueur.

Mugisha Didier didn’t return in Kigali with his teammates.

On Wednesday, the team returned to Kigali, but Munyaneza Didier was not among them. He was last seen at the airport in France before they were scheduled to fly back home. His disappearance at the airport is the main reason it’s being suspected that he might have intentionally stayed behind.

Munyaneza Didier, aged 27, has played for several clubs in Rwanda, South Africa, and Martinique.
