Kylian Mbappé, who is reported to have lost five kilograms following an illness last week, has resumed training with Real Madrid after arriving in the United States.
The 26-year-old French player was hospitalized on the day Real Madrid played their first Club World Cup match against Al-Hilal, after experiencing stomach-related illness symptoms.
After being discharged from the hospital and returning to the hotel, he had to be isolated to avoid infecting his teammates.
Mbappé resumed light training on his own on Tuesday and is currently working on reintegrating with the rest of the squad.
Despite being on the road to recovery, his illness has taken a toll on him, with Spanish outlet Marca reporting he lost between four and five kilograms.
It is believed that Mbappé may have already started feeling unwell while still in Madrid, before traveling to the U.S. earlier this month.
He showed signs of discomfort during Real Madrid’s second training session in Miami.
Mbappé is expected to be available for the upcoming match against RB Salzburg scheduled for early Friday morning.
Real Madrid currently leads Group H with four points after drawing 1-1 with Al-Hilal and beating Pachuca 3-1 — both matches played without Mbappé.
