
Rwanda’s national men’s and women’s sitting volleyball teams have learned the groups they will compete in for the 2025 African Sitting Volleyball Zonal Championship.
The tournament will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from July 1 to July 10, 2025.
The group draw held on Wednesday placed Rwanda’s men’s team in Group A alongside Kenya and Algeria, while Group B consists of Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa.
In the women’s category, the participating countries are Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria.
The top two teams in both the men’s and women’s categories will qualify to represent Africa at the World Championship to be held in China.
In 2024, Rwanda’s women’s team won the African title after defeating Kenya in the final, while the men’s team secured third place by beating Algeria.
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda (NPC Rwanda) released the list of players who will represent the country in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The women’s team will be led by Captain Mukobwankawe Liliane.
Other selected players include:
Kwizera Carine, Uwimpuhwe Faustina, Murebwayire Claudine, Musabyemariya Alice, Mulisa Hosiana, Habyarimana Assina, Mucyo Marie Adeline, Umuyange Chanceline, Ishimwe Kevine, Nyiraneza Solange, Uwajeneza Uwase Rose, Umutoni Clementine, and Umurerwa Rosine.
The team will be coached by Dr. Mosaad Rashad Elaiuty, assisted by Umutesi Josée and Ndamyumugabe Emmanuel.
Dr. Mosaad also announced the men’s team, which includes:
Captain Vuningabo Emile Cadet, Byumvuhore Célestin, Nkwaya Ismaël, Kubwimana Ezra, Ndayisaba Jean Baptiste, Murema Jean Baptiste, Twagirayezu Callixte, Ndahiro Jean Claude, Nzeyimana Callixte, Nyagatare Christophe, Semana Jean, Ngizwenimana Jean Bosco, Niyogushimwa Pacifique, and Niyitegeka Innocent.
This men’s team will be assisted by Mandela Steven and Rukundo Jean.
